NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
AND AVAILABILITY OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Village of Odessa, Schuyler County, New York

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special Village election of the Village of Odessa, Schuyler County, New York, will be held at the Village Hall, 300 East Main Street in Odessa, New York on the 7 day of February, 2019, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, Prevailing Time, for the purpose of voting by paper ballot on the proposition hereinafter set forth.  Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open between the hours of 12:00 o'clock Noon, and 9:00 o'clock P.M., Prevailing Time.

BOND PROPOSITION

Shall the bond resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Odessa, Schuyler County, New York, on January 3, 2019, authorizing the issuance of $554,593 serial bonds and the expenditure of $200,000 equipment reserve fund monies to pay the cost of the purchase of a pumper fire-fighting vehicle at a maximum estimated cost of $754,593 in and for said Village, including original equipment and incidental expenses in connection therewith, delegating the power to issue such bonds and anticipation notes to the Village Treasurer, pledging the faith and credit of said Village for the payment of such bonds and notes, determining that the period of probable usefulness of such vehicle is twenty years and that the maximum maturity of such serial  bonds will exceed five years, and containing an estoppel provision, be approved?

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that any person qualified to vote at a general village election and registered to vote may vote upon a proposition to be presented at a special village election.  Registration with the County Board of Election must be done at least ten days before the date of the Special Election.

Persons qualified to register and vote must be (a) a citizen of the United States, (b) eighteen years of age or older as of the date of the special election and (c) a resident of the Village for at least thirty days preceding the date of the Special Election

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that a qualified elector of the Village may vote by absentee ballot if such elector is eligible to vote as an absentee voter in accordance with the requirements therefor set forth in the Election Law.  Persons eligible to vote as an absentee voter and who wish to obtain an absentee ballot must make written application therefor to the Village Clerk upon a form supplied by said Clerk.  Such applications must be received by the Village Clerk no later than seven days prior to the date of the Special Election if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, or the day before the Special Election if the application is to be delivered in person to the Village Clerk.  Absentee voting shall be as otherwise prescribed in the Election Law.  Questions concerning absentee ballots may be directed to the Village Clerk during regular office hours.

COMMUNITY ROOM USE

The Village of Odessa does have an application process where  Village Residents and residents in the Odessa Fire District can use our Community Room for no fee.  The only thing we ask is a donation to cover cleaning supplies and utilities. 

The room has a capacity of 93 people 

Alcohol is prohibited.

If you would like to know if it is availabe please call the Village office at 607-594-2100 to check.  If it is available the link below is the application that will need to be filled out and returned for approval of the Village Board.
